Keeping the Cogs Turning.
As you are all very aware, the Orchard
is a charitable body and as such depends ENTIRELY on voluntary support and work. Any support or help you can give to events of fundraising is most appreciated and always welcome. The Orchard is also managed by Committee, and we are
always looking for new members. If you
are interested in joining, please speak to Yvonne.

Welcome back from our break, we hope you all had a good restful holiday. We would like to welcome a couple of children to The Orchard, Joanna (who joined us in our 2-3 year old session last term), Sebastian who is joining us for this term and Ashton who will be starting our 2-3 year old session. We hope they enjoy their time with us. We would also like to welcome Phoebe and Olivia. F to the Rising 5's, we hope they enjoy it just as much as our other sessions.

This term our theme is growing. The first half term our topic will be plants and vegetables, where we will be planting some potatoes, tomatoes and sunflowers in our gardens. The children already have beans growing, so we will be watching them throughout the weeks, measuring them along the way. The Rising 5's will also be looking at "Growing" but in a more in depth way. They will also be concentrating on pencil and scissor control as well as a couple of little experiments. The second half of the term our topic will be animals and we will be watching caterpillars turn into butterflies.

During the whole term we will be continuing with our alphabet frieze, plus we will be creating a new number line. We will be concentrating on one number a week, doing various activities with that numeral.

As most of you are aware Helen is in the middle of a Sign Language course and has been teaching us some simple signs during the last couple of terms. This term she will be continuing with this, bringing in a rhyme or poem that the sign relates to. These will include emotional and good behaviour signs.
